چکیده

The electromagnetic interactions of a relativistic two-body bound state are formulated in three dimensions using an equal-time (ET) formalism. This involves a systematic reduction of four-dimensional dynamics to a threedimensional form by integrating out the time components of relative momenta. A conserved electromagnetic current is developed for the ET formalism. It is shown that consistent truncations of the electromagnetic current and the NN interaction kernel may be made, order-by-order in the coupling constants, such that appropriate Ward-Takahashi identities are satisfied. A meson-exchange model of the NN interaction is used to calculate deuteron vertex functions. Calculations of electromagnetic form factors for elastic scattering of electrons by deuterium are performed using an impulse-approximation current. Negative-energy components of the deuteron’s vertex function and retardation effects in the meson-exchange interaction are found to have only minor effects on the deuteron form factors.

Electron-deuteron scattering in a relativistic theory of hadrons

We review a three-dimensional formalism that provides a systematic way to include relativistic effects including relativistic kinematics, the effects of negativeenergy states, and the boosts of the two-body system in calculations of two-body bound-states. We then explain how to construct a conserved current within this relativistic three-dimensional approach. This general theoretical framework ...

Final State Interactions and Relativistic Effects in Exclusive Electron Scattering from the Deuteron

For a quantitative description of exclusive electron scattering data at high energies, one has to take into account both relativistic effects and an appropriate description of final state interactions. In the rst part, we use a recent approach for the relativistic treatment of the electromagnetic current operator which does not involve an approximation in the transferred energy or transferred m...

Electromagnetic scattering from relativistic bound states.

The quasipotential formalism for elastic scattering from relativistic bound states is formulated based on the instant constraint in the Breit frame. The quasipotential electromagnetic current is derived from Mandelstam's vepoint kernel and obeys a two-body Ward identity. Breit-frame wave functions are obtained directly by solving integral equations with nonzero total threemomentum, thus accompl...

Elastic electron–deuteron scattering in chiral effective field theory

We calculate elastic electron–deuteron scattering in a chiral effective field theory approach for few–nucleon systems based on a modified Weinberg power counting. We construct the current operators and the deuteron wave function at next-to-leading order (NLO) simultaneously within a projection formalism. The leading order comprises the impulse approximation of photons coupling to point-like nuc...

Realistic solutions of the spinor-spinor Bethe-Salpeter equation for the deuteron with realistic interaction kernel including the exchange of π, σ, ω, ρ, η and δ mesons, are used to systematically investigate relativistic effects in inclusive quasi-elastic electron-deuteron scattering within the relativistic impulse approximation. Relativistic y-scaling is considered by generalising the non rel...
